Clare and I had been planning a long run on the Mountain today, but as I'm still recovering from my cold/flu I knew I wasn't going to be up for much running so instead I elected to do a long walk from the springs, while she ran. The weather was sunny and just about perfect.
I love this walk. It's probably my favourite mountain walk.
and it's really nice when there's still a bit of snow around..
I had to jog some of the downhill so I wasn't too late back but that was ok. Then I picked Clare up from Ferntree where she had finished running a very impressive 20k, and dropped her off at home - after admiring the Norwegian flag flying from the house next door to hers (very remote May 17th celebrations I guess) ..
Then I made a quick stop at Woolworths so I could buy some food lures to entice the children to walk up Truganini track with hopefully minimal complaining after I picked them up from their sleepovers. I'm pleased to say my plan was successful, especially as I also persuaded Zali's walk loving friend Emily to come with us as well - so Zali ended up being quite happy about the whole thing.
I must admit that I was a bit tired after all this mountain climbing though. However I am buoyed by the fact that my next clever plan for today is to teach the kids how to make chocolate self-saucing pudding.
