Hurtigruten: Day 7 & goodbye

The last morning of our trip brought more blue polar landscapes yet with the addition of russian ships.

Normally the weather is around minus 13 here in Kirkenes but today it is a warm minus 5 - so we had an easy transfer from the boat to the airport busses - it seems that about 1/2 of our passengers are leaving the boat with us. 

Then we had a 20 minute drive out of town to the airport. From first glance Kirkenes clearly has a lot of money (from oil and mining). Nothing about the town itself gives away it's remote location (except the Russian, and occasionally Finnish on all the signs I guess). The landscape around the town looks suitably arctic though.

And now we are waiting for our flight back to Oslo.   Snow covered airports are very pretty - and there's even the 5 minutes of daily sunshine on the hills beyond. Very cool.
