Postcard Perfect

The bus up to Nordseter is just the local service, so it's only a few bucks each and you put your skis underneath the bus (with all the other skis).  Even though Lillehammer is a small town of about 26000 they still get to have live timetables in their nice bus stops. Hmmph.  

Not surprisingly, given the weather, most of the other passengers were heading up there to go ski-ing today too.  Today we took the bus to the very end of the route which is just a bit higher than where I started yesterday and the extra half metre of snow against the blue sky made everything look extra heavily iced with royal icing...

Needless to say the rest of the trip was awesome. Here are some more photos.  We are squinting a little as the sun is so bright and I don't have any sunglasses.

Check out the creek bed in the above two photos. It snakes around magically.

At one point Jon took off his skis and discovered why Norwegians don't take off their skis when they need to step off the trail to relieve themselves..

His first step was ok, his second dropped him into a waist deep snow drift that I had to pull him out of!

And onwards down to Kristians Hall. In the distance on the right there is a teacher teaching his students how to ride rails and do other tricks on skis on obstacles (street style).  I'm assuming this was a normal class as the sports-college is right next door.  So one minute it's rail-riding, the next it's algebra. Nice.

That's it. I hadn't planned to but  I know that Jon would be very disappointed if I didn't post this photo he took of a butt shaped ball of snow stuck at the top of a tree with the amusingly placed jet stream heading towards it. It took him ages to get the timing just right. Just be grateful I'm only posting one of the series..
