I thought I was pretty clever spotting a moose grazing in the forest on the side of the road as we drove towards Lillehammer today.
Turns out that moose are in plague proportions (well almost), and our Lillehammer friends had three sitting in the garden here on Sunday, and one was practically sitting at the breakfast table with them this morning.
In other news, yes we have made it safely to Lillehammer, despite very icy roads out of Drammen, and very snowy roads into Lillehammer - the other 2 hours were completely fine except for being on the wrong side of the road an all.
After our safe arrival and warm welcome from my friend Dorte, we got changed and headed up to the olympic cross country centre, where Kjersti (13) and Tilda (8) were doing a some short ski races. Although it was dark (and legitimately night i.e 6ish -, not 3pm afternoon-night), it was possible to ski perfectly fine as the paths were fully lit. And of course the snow conditions are perfect. Jett is really enjoying his cross country and wanted to head further and further into the snow-clad forest, whilst Zali is now the tentative one and like her cycling, wanted to stay on the flat. Neither of them can be persuaded to try downhill at the moment. Little do they know that that's almost the only type of ski-ing they'll be able to do at home.
Anyway- it's absolutely beautiful here in Lillehammer at the moment - I'm looking forward to getting and posting some images to prove it tomorrow.
