On our way home from St Helens today we decided to stop at a couple of places we always drive past. Our first break was at Lagoons Beach, half way between Scamander and Bicheno. It was really lovely and we had a great picnic and play in the waves. The beach was huge but we had it all to ourselves.
The second stop was at Spikey Bridge. Jon has been pleading for us to stop there for years but I am normally driving at that point so… he's had to wait until today. It was actually kind of cool. And it's also cool that the area is on one of the new World Cup maps so we'll get to run on the hills behind there again soon.
However it will be another 10 years before we stop there again - there are so many other places to have a look at! We almost always choose to drive the slightly longer coast road back to Hobart after orienteering at St Helens, it's a beautiful journey and I recon it's at least as fantastic as the Great Ocean Road, except without the crowds and traffic and giant shack-houses.
