So today I found myself doing the school run from Kngston to mum and dad's place, with the kids but without any petrol. After a long petrol-station-less stretch on the Southern Outlet I very was relieved to splutter into the petrol station in Sandy Bay. Annoyingly though I couldn't find my wallet and the bill for filling the car was $81.16. Dang.
So - in a bit of a sticky situation I negotiated with the petrol station owner and left him my mobile as security and headed off to drop off the kids at mum and dad's place. Once there I relieved dad all his cash but unfortunately that wasn't enough. I was just on the phone to Jonno asking him to come up sort it out so I could go to work when mum came back from a walk. Happily she'd just been for a walk to the ATM machine. So I relieved her of her cash too and zoomed off to pay my bill. Hilariously, it turns out mum only went to the bank because she had run out of cash. And she'd run out of cash because the day before Paul had stayed and mum had given him $50 to fill the car that he was about to borrow with petrol. Of course Paul didn't do that - and instead spent the money and racked up a parking ticket.
Kids. who'd have 'em
