As I mentioned, my Norwegian family (as I've referred to them for the last 17 years) - finally came to visit last week. The kids are all grown up but just as lovely as they were when they were when I was their au pair for 18 months back 1991-1992. They still have their cheeky smiles but luckily their English is a lot better now as my Norwegian is a lot worse! We had a great holiday hanging out together and the little things like seeing them read to my own kids was really really nice although it did make my head spin a bit!
I mustn't forget to mention lovely Lars-Henrik who was born 2 years after I left and is now a fully fledged teenager! He was great with our kids and really got in some English practise himself as he was called upon to read book after book during some of our car journeys. Linda and Harald were as charming and funny as ever and really made me appreciate just how lucky I was to have experienced that time in Lillehammer with such a nice family of people.
oh and one final thing - I was one of 4.5 au pairs they had during their childhood and whilst the 18 months was a really big thing for me, it wouldn't have been more than much of a speck for them at that age so it was really nice to hear that there was lots of things that they remembered that we did together during that time. They even remembered things that I didn't until they reminded me. cool. kjempe kult.
