This weekend we went to stay at Lake Pedder Chalet which is a completely underutilised ex Hydro town in the middle of the wilderness (although only 2.5 hours from Hobart) . On the way we even passed one of the campsites of the current generation of anti-forestry protesters which was cool - (very embarrassingly I thought the Florentine forest was miles further to the north and west). Anyway - the weather was wet and wild but it was still great as it was Jo's 40th birthday and we were all there for the party anyway. I'd like to go back to the place again before it closes in July and do some of the walks, and swim in their pool and stuff like that - but if it doesn't happen I'm still really glad that we got to go at all..
