Hurtigruten: Day 6

Today we woke to whiter mountains, taller cliffs and stormy seas. So stormy that we abandoned a stop in one of the ports due to the high wind (too bad if anyone needed to get off!) and continued on to our major stop of the day Honningsvåg. I feel like I missed all the good photo opportunities today as I was too busy eating, or putting on lots of layers of clothes, or just unable to push open the door to the outside deck due to the high winds!

Disembarking at Honningsvåg - which is quite a pretty little town - we took a tour to Skarsvåg which was an interesting drive over the mountains but not a hugely pretty town. After waffles and stories of town life delivered by a local fisherman's wife Heidi, who was born in the house next door and says she will be the last to leave the town, we walked down to the dock to check out the operations there. At this point the snow started coming down heavily so in order to be safe and make it back to the boat before the roads closed, we had to leave shortly afterwards. The waffles were good though! And now we're back on the boat, heading into our last night. Tomorrow we're pretty much going straight from the boat to the airport. I'm looking forward to being back on land, being a little bit more independent, and I can't wait to head to Lillehammer, which is our next week of activity.
