After ski-ing the kids gave themselves the rest of the day off outdoor activities (Zali had a good excuse with her injuries, Jett just wanted to relax). But ski-ing & nude swimming (for Jon anyway) wasn't enough for us, so we had Bjørn take us to the local ice rink. I'd been looking forward to this moment for months and months - and practising with Clare in Melbourne whenever I could.
Of course being in the winter sports capital of the world, the 'rink' is huge (and free) - as big as 2 full size soccer fields joined together, and the ice is absolutely perfect despite being outdoors as they put on a new layer of water every hour or so. In Drammen they play something called 'Bandy', which is a little like our hockey - outdoors, with a ball and without the walls around the side.
Just as we arrived the bandy game behind us finished which meant we got to play on the HUGE middle 'rink' as opposed to the very large areas on either end for the public (where the ice is also perfect). Bjørn very cleverly packed helmets as well as an ice-hockey stick each - which was really really good as Jon would probably still be unconscious now given the heavy couple of falls he had.
We played and played and played. It was so much fun. we even had enough space to play our own ice-hockey match with real goals at either end. Jon and I were against Bjørn and he skated circles around us before thrashing us 10-2. Lets just say the scoreline is actually very flattering for us.
So it was great. At the time. But while we were playing Bjørn had a fall (which neither Jon or I saw) and he banged his wrist quite hard - It was ok at the time, but later on it got really really painful and right now he is down at the doctors getting checked out. So that sucks and I really hope it isn't broken :(
