Clearly my kids (and their cousins) aren't the only ones to insist that 'Dark Vader' fights with a 'Light Saver', as when I googled 'Dark Vader' there was no shortage of results. It does annoy me though that the kids pay no heed to my claim that this stuff has been around for 25 years (at least) and it's 'Darth' and 'Sabre/Saber'. sigh.
I shouldn't take it too personally though, Toby and Miley still talk about winning 'Metals' (not medals), and although the 10c fine for using the words 'versing', or 'versed', or even 'versus' in the wrong context (e.g. ' I am versing him in the next round') is working quite well in our house, it's a losing battle in the playground as every other kid uses the 'V' word all the time. I'm sad that Jett will eventually realise the small bouncy thing is a Wallaby, not Wobbaly, but I won't be sorry when people at work stop using the expression 'Talk to the [topic/idea]' as opposed to 'Talk about the [topic/idea] - that's way more stupid than Dark Vader and his light saver.
