How could this possibly not be the coolest sewing machine you've ever seen - It's certainly the coolest one I've ever seen. Every single knob and dial is incredible in its retro design - even its little accessory tin is very cool - I bet I could get $10 at the tip shop for that alone!
I've got it because my cute little (old) Elna sewing machine died when I got a bit ambitious with my bean bag cover repair (too many corners, too thick fabric). Since it arrived in the house it's been sitting around waiting for me to try it out but I avoided it (it all looked so complicated) until last Thursday night when I suddenly had 15 bandanas to hem! So I told myself I'd just give it a quick try and if it didn't work I'd give up and not bother.
So I guessed on the threading procedure, plugged it in and zoooom - away we went! It's very flash and I'm sure it was pretty fantastic in it's day. There's even a little guarantee from Good Housekeeping Magazine that if it doesn't live up to the advertisement then I can get my money back. It's original RRP was $395.99 so actually that's still an attractive financial proposition (if it wasn't so cool that is). It used to belong to my Sydney Grandfather who was apparently quite the sewer - it doesn't really explain the salmon pink colour though!
