So - this year I thought I would challenge myself by not buying any new clothes at all. I don't really spend much on clothes anyway, as I generally go around the place looking like I've wandered out of a low security psychiatric ward. However when I told Jon my proposal he didn't seem confident that it was such a good idea - I guess he knows the current contents of my wardrobe pretty well! So as a result of that I've decided to modify the challenge so that in 2011 I can't spend more than $11 on any single item of clothing. This means I can keep up to date with socks and stuff. I'm also going to allow myself specialised sporting equipment (such as bathers or a kayaking rash vest, or running shoes) but this doesn't extend to tracksuit pants or general sporting stuff such as running gear which I tend to wear around anyway. I recon I have enough clothes in my wardrobe to do this easily in fact I have started by picking up 2 bargain $9 shirts from Harris Scarfe.
Jon has come to the party now too and says he won't spend any more than a total of $2011 on clothes this year. This will put a lid on his penchant for fine work wear, and also that replica Port Adelaide Mascot Suit he's had his eye on will have to wait for another year.
