I'm not on my usual photo editing laptop but I'll attempt to post some images anyway. Last weekend was our 4th Freycinet Challenge (in 5 years) and the first time I've actually participated. Normally Jon does it with a friend of his but the Whitto family weren't keen on it this year so we roped in brother Paul for the run, and Danni and Jo for the support crew. And even though we fear change, it turned out great! Our three person team was 2nd in our category (we were a minute behind the winners but two hours ahead of third place) - but more meaningfully we were the 51st team overall out of 165 teams including some real gun mens four person teams. Yay. For me it was great to finally do the event I'd been watching and knowing that Paul and Jon can't paddle to save themselves, (whilst they can obviously run and cycle way better than me) it was also great to contribute positively to the team efforts. I found the paddle legs really tough and long but I finished each in around 75th out of 167 paddlers. There were only 20 women doing the paddle legs both days and I was 3rd overall out of them. So I'm stoked. With Jo and Danni being around as well it was a generally excellent holiday despite the decidedly dodgy weather. Interestingly these photos make it look like we were the only competitors in the event so I'll try to post some more exciting ones in the next few days!
