I'm really enjoying this work-free time and I'm actually getting projects done that I've had in my head or spread about the house for the last few years. I spent the last 3 days busily engaged under the deck getting things in order there..
First I cleared out all the rubbish including the roller door which we are trying to sell. Then I built a kayak rack for two kayaks. Then I assembled bike racks for all the bikes (I was going to attempt to build them with wood but after some web-research it turns out I was never going to get it done as neatly or probably cheaply as what I could buy). Then I hung some sheets of laserlite above them to keep them from getting when rain drips though the deck. Now it is very nice and neat. Building the racks was hard work and took most of a day, but I'm most pleased with the laserlite installation as yesterday morning it all just seemed too hard to do single-handedly as I also had to install an extra crossbeam to give it a slope for the run-off. But then after some thinking and channelling of dad (he single-handedly installed a beautiful planked ceiling on our 3m high games room) I worked out how it could be done with temporary wire hooks and straps to hold the bits up while I drilled and stuff. It's a pity I couldn't channel a few more right angles into my construction works but hey I can only work within my abilities!
