St Canice Avenue

Meanwhile the work continues at St Canice Avenue.  Once a date for the new carpets was confirmed Jon and I realised we really had to paint at least 3 of the worst rooms or it would have been a waste of nice flooring - we targetted the rooms with the most horrible mustard yellow colour schemes - namely the 'old' living room, the kitchen/dining area, and mum's massive office room. We had just over 2 weeks to do it as well as get all the remaining junk and furniture out of the house - so it's been a busy fortnight. The ceilings are high and the rooms are huge - we've gone through almost 30 litres of paint. 

Absolutely everyone has chipped to this particular push - Denny and I have done many days worth of prepping and painting, Jon and all the kids have done a full skip load of furniture and junk removal (not always by conventional methods):

and Rob was tasked with replacing the laundry/bathroom and kitchen floors, which first involved ripping up (or simply peeling off) multiple layers of old lino - there were FOUR floors in the laundry!  He's still working on this job.

I'm not sure if we are going to be able to lose the worst-house-in-the-best-street title once we are done, but there's certainly going to be a lot less daylight between this house and whatever is the 2nd worst!
