Tarkine Wilderness Lodge

It wouldn't have been my plan to turn around just a few days after arriving home from St Helens and do the 5 hour drive to the Tarkine Wilderness Lodge, but we suddenly had an offer as Jon's brother and sister-in-law Andrew and Teri had booked it all,  and it had spare beds. We've hardly been to this area so it was too good an opportunity to miss (as well as a further chance to hang with Jon's siblings which he rarely gets to do - amazingly he's had almost all of them rock up in Tasmania in these last few weeks).  

So the moment I finished work on Friday I jumped in the loaded car (thanks to working from home) and set off through the city picking up Jon on the way. I left at about 2.15pm and we arrived at the lodge at 7.30pm after only about 5 minutes in total of stopping to swap drivers on the way. It was a big drive.

The Tarkine Wilderness Lodge fits the bill for 'lodge', and we do seem to have the run of the place, including the big kitchen, office and the bar! We arrived just in time for a delicious dinner and I'm looking forward to a good sleep in tomorrow morning, then some exploring of the local area.  Hopefully there will be no more driving!
