More garden stuff and holiday stuff

This morning we dragged some of our sleepy guests out for an easy run to Beer Barrel beach, it wasn't quite the enticing ocean we'd seen on previous visits but it's still a good run :

Then we went for a walk alongside the sea wall where I saw heaps of fish last time. Unfortunately the wind made it too hard to see anything - it's still a nice stroll though:

After a bit of food shopping we sat down to a pretty late but totally delicious breakfast. Then we got stuck into more garden work - today the focus was on applying weed-matting and a lot of mulch to the side of the house. 

Most of us helped at various times, but it was really Jon who did the bulk of the work with the wheel barrow - by the end of the day it looked great. The next step will be re-tidying the path and planting lots more plants in the mulched area.

By the time we managed to drag Jon away from his barrow and the kids away from the games..

So we had a late trip to Peron Dunes to try out the sand board and the boogie boards with the board wax which we didn't use last time - and it made a huge difference - we all got lots of long runs in.

Despite it being late afternoon the dunes were pretty busy with fellow sand surfers - in fact it's busy everywhere in the area at the moment.     

Tomorrow we head to Launceston for the day for the start of the orienteering carnival.
