In the abscence of an in-car DVD player we were forced to invent the Windmill Spotto Game which basically involved everyone taking turns to spot a windmill which in SA meant we didn't have to wait more than a few minutes per turn - although Jett seemed to be convinced that everything outside the car was a "dog-dog" and thus he was generally overlooked when it was his go. On the way home I told Zali the story of the road trip that I went on with my family when I was about 10 and we were all going to Cooper Pedy. I left my teddy bear Pompi on the boat (called the Enterprise in those days) and had to continue the rest of our journey without him, but when we got home mum wrote to the Enterprise and asked if it had been found. I was delighted to receive a package in the mail a few weeks later only to be dissapointed that the teddy bear I had been sent was not my own. I got over it pretty quickly though and called the replacement bear Bendigo (cos we'd gone through Bendigo on our trip). Anyway - as you can see, this story isn't all that exciting but Zali was facinated by it and spent about a day and a half asking me questions and clarifying points and re-telling the story in her own words. It will proably be the one memory that stays with her from the whole trip!
