So after our dismal MTBO failure we decided to make the most of already being out. First we stopped at Mt Field National Park but it was a bit cold and rainy to walk to Russell Falls so we just played in the little park. Then we stopped at the much derided (by me) school excursion staple called The Salmon Ponds. It was great! We got to feed the salmon (which is much more exciting than it sounds as they work themselves into a leaping and snapping feeding frenzy) and then we fed ourselves some delicious pancakes. Our next and final stop was a cycle safety park at New Norfolk - the kids got to ride around a little circuit which had all the road signs and even some minature traffic lights. Zali and Jett loved it and Jon finally got to do some cycling for the day. Then they had a quick play at a regular playgound before hopping into the car and cruising home. Despite the cold, muddy and terribly underprepared start to the day, it ended up being a great day out!
