Last week both my cakes were of the more traditional hearts-on-wires and roses-and-pillars style. This week they are more contemporary.. Unfortunately in this case contemporary meant time consuming and when that is combined with a long weekend and needing to pick up kids at all hours of the day, it means late late* nights for me:
Anyway - I'm finally done - the beach cake was fun, the bride and groom even have thongs sitting on the towel (Americans: I'm not talking about what you are thinking of) . Unfortunately in a fit of 2am madness I initially coloured the top tier blue rather than yellow - I guess I must have thought the bride and groom were going to be on floating li-los (air-mattresses) or something. The sparkley cake looks better in real life and will be the cause of little silver balls bouncing out of every cupboard and drawer I open for years and years to come - it was nearly as messy as filling a beanbag for a while there.
In other news my home-packaged lamingtons sold early on at the school fun night thingy.
* I know it's really really late when Jon** gets up out of bed to order me pack things up.
** Jon = king of late late nights
