Carnival Success

One of the best things so far in this carnival is the success the Tasmanian Junior team has been having.  I know first hand how many long hours Jon and the other helpers put in to planning & delivering training sessions, training camps, and all the other stuff that comes with it, so to see them do so well with such an inexperienced team is amazing.  I was thinking that the best result would be that the juniors would be motivated to continue in the sport for future years, but in fact Tasmania finished as third state overall (behind NSW and ACT),  helped along by stand out performances from 2 of the juniors who both won the individual events.  

The rest of the team still had to perform solidly to back them up and they absolutely have.  Jett's team was 3rd state in the senior boys relay and the junior teams both went well overall. The senior girls team had some good runs but  not enough to make the placings.

There are still more orienteering events but the schools competition is all over bar the disco on Saturday night where I'm sure Tasmanian kids will shine brightly.
