Lake St Clair Day 2

After a windy night in the campground, we packed our stuff up and set off as a much larger group to do the 19k Mt Rufus Circuit. This is one of my all time favourite day walks in Tasmania.  It starts off with a steady climb up from the lake.

Then it gets more serious with a steep pinch up to the ridge, which more often than not is blowing a gale. As it was today.

We only spent a few minutes all together on top as the howling wind seemed to be increasing every minute. 

About 20 minutes further on was a nice sheltered rocky outcrop - perfect for lunch. 

After lunch about half of us were keen to jog sections of the long downhill, so we split apart a bit, but then would join up again. 

Jett and Liana were by far the fastest, and spent a fair bit of time waiting for us at Shadow Lake. After this point it was an easy 4k home on a relatively smooth track.

And so ended another fantastic adventure.  We've been so lucky with good weather and keen participants this year. I keep thinking that each adventure will be the last for summer but they keep going!
