Daylesford Holiday

It's nice to finally be on holidays after a huge end to the project I've been working on for 12 months.  

Zali and Jo and I are staying in a house in Daylesford for the Aus Orienteering Championships. These are the first ones since 2019 (2020 then 2021 were scheduled for Tassie but had to be cancelled).

As usual, the last few days before flying to the mainland were hectic. In addition to the usual hours of cleaning for the house-sitter, then packing, I also had to do a last minute trip with Pinto to the vet - as she had suddenly started vomiting after almost every meal and I didn't want to leave her unwell for the house sitter.  I later realised that this was probably due to her discovery that she could slash open her dry food sacks and help herself. Then, not wanting to seem impolite, she was also scarfing down the meals legitimately served to her. Hence the spews.  It was an expensive exercise taking Pinto to the vet for what I am reasonably sure was a self inflicted ailment - but I can take comfort in the fact that she had both her temperature and some blood taken - so karma did come for her in some form.

Anyway - our house in Daylesford is very nice - comfy and warm with lots of artsy things and a lovely garden.  Unfortunately it doesn't have a washing machine or a microwave - so we've had to find other ways to wash our poppadums and reheat our towels.

Today after the orienteering (more on this later), I took myself for a short walk around the local neighbourhood - we're right opposite Wombat Hill Gardens and just up from the main street:

Tomorrow is a rest day. We're heading to Ballarat to do an escape room with Andy, Alex and Lyra.
