Euro Day 35 - O-Ringen - Race Day 3

Today was the last day of our O-Ringen experience and that's simply a bummer as it's been so awesome!  Next time we come we'll do the full week for sure - we simply couldn't have squeezed it in this time.

I didn't have my best run today, but it doesn't matter, as it was still great fun.  The rest of the family did fine.  The blueberries were so thick on the ground in some areas that Jon's feet came back stained purple!  There were some patches I was running through that smelt like blueberry jam (also they were a bugger to run through as they were very high bushes!).

I only took a couple of photos today so we'll have to work with those. In fact I wasn't going to post at all but I was cajoled into it by Zali and Jett who like to read my posts in the morning.

This photo is of maybe 1/6th of the bike parking (people ride their bikes from their vans/tents to the daily event busses)

On the subject of bikes, most Swedes bring their own to o-ringen, but they also hire them out here.  Apparently they had a whole lot of new ones for hire, but they also had a whole lot for hire that the police brought around which were unclaimed stolen property or generally abandonned bikes.  So people have been riding around on quite the range of bikes.  I suspect these two might have been stolen by some Germans in WWII

And in other O-Ringen information, apparently the first aid tent at the arena (which will be returned to being a paddock in the next few weeks) even featured x-ray facilities! Amazing.

And here's a photo of the prize giving for the junior elite. I took it because an Australian was third in M20 Elite which is great going. He got a giant novelty chequefor 2000 kronor which was impressive.But not as impressive as the 80000 kronor (12000 aud)   cheques the winners of M and W 21 Elite took home! 

Tomorrow we'll pack up and head somewhere not too far away so we can relax by a lake. Another couple of hot days then it will cool down in time for us to go to the Stockholm Archipelago.
