Euro Day 7 - Annecy to Les Houches

Another day, another scorcher! Luckily we were in the best possible place for the continued heat wave and I started the day with some quiet contemplation of my beautiful surroundings..

Once everyone else was up and about we hired some paddle boards and enjoyed the lake for a few more hours.

In fact once we were completely packed up and ready to go we decided to eat lunch at the jetty before heading into the heat of Annecy town whic is situated at the end of the lake.

We finally dragged ourselves away and drove the 20 minutes back to the town. Being a Saturday, and stinking hot, and a market day, everyone and their dog had come to Annecy so it took a while to get a park. We had to do our washing (I was down to wearing running gear!) so we put a load on then wandered around the town. It was incredibly pretty.

Ok the laundromat wasn't all that pretty. But the canals were:

It must be a popular place for weddings as we saw an awful lot of bridal parties in Annecy too..

There were heaps of passageways under the buildings from one street to another that I didn't get any good photos of but they were really cool.   I could also go on posting amazing photos for hours, but I don't have time for that.  It was lovely but so hot it was hard to be in the sun for very long so after our laundry finished we left Annecy and drove the 1 hour to Les Houches.  The views along the way were stunning, and the mountains got higher and higher the closer we got until we were driving towards Mont Blanc itself - clear and bright white on this blue sky day.

We're now in Les Houches and mostly packed and ready to start our 3 day hike tomorrow.   Our hotel window looks directly over to Mont Blanc:

We cooked our dinner by a little lake a few kms away from our hotel:and we watched paragliders come all the way from the top of Mont Blanc to the valley floor.  It was delightful.

 The forecast is for cooler days with some rain which will be nice!   Jon is steadfastly refusing to carry my computer and associated cables so I wont be able to post for a few days. Direct your complaints to him.
