Last week we passed another milestone in our building-a-shack journey when I spent the day in Westbury making 'selections' with our client liaison person.  

As it's a 2.5 hour drive from Hobart I actually made an overnight trip of it and stayed the night in Launceston with friends which allowed me to go orienteering on Wednesday then for a nice run at Trevallyn before heading via the back roads to Westbury.

Then I spent a day being peppered with questions like 'where will the hot water cylinder go? what colour will the doors be? where will the powerpoints go? what colour will the bathroom floor grout be?..  I thought I was pretty prepared as Zali and I had spent a bit of time choosing things, but there were still a lot of things I had to decided on the fly.  It was good and bad to be by myself, I think it made the process faster, and I got to sneak a few things in like the bright orange back door. Of course it does mean I will be responsible when the light switches are illogical and the hot water cylinder is placed in the living room.
