Euro Day 36 - Back into the forest

We started the day with a well deserved sleep-in then pancakes in the camp ground.

Afterwards we packed up and shopped for the next few days.  We didn't have big ambitions today - just to go to a lake and swim.  With plenty of swimming sites to choose from we chose somewhere with enough parking to fit us and it also happened to be on the map of the area we ran on the day before.

The swimming was great. Zali seems to be suffering post traumatic outdoor stress syndrome, so she preferred to stay out of the water and in the campervan for most of the day but the rest of us were happy to be out and about. 

We realised our swimming spot was really close to where Jon and I had noticed the blueberries were particularly plentiful as we raced, so we walked 10 minutes into the forest to do some blueberry picking.

 I think you'll agree that the forest is gorgeous. It's hard to believe there were 21000 people running through it the day before !

In the afternoon I went for a walk around the lake - it's about 10ks around - half of it was lovely, the other half was boring gravel roads. These are the photos from the nice bits. While I was there I also checked out a route choice that I'd not taken the previous day - but I noticed the really fast people on my course took it (livelox).  I didn't take it because the forest looked thick on the map, but those who did were much faster, so I took a look at that patch of forest as I went past - and it was thick and nasty looking! Hmmph!  The people who win these courses are just so strong in this forest!

We're allowed to keep the campervan here in the carpark for the lake overnight, so we've just had dinner and it's clearly device time. 

I'm off to cover myself with mosquito repellant and have another swim before bed time.
