Milford Track - Day 2

We only had a brief stop for lunch, due to the pesky sandflies annoying the hell out of us whenever we stopped for more than a few minutes, so we arrived at Clinton hut at about 2.30pm. Clinton Hut was my least favourite hut of the trip - being positioned in the middle of a section of mossy beech forest it didn’t get very much light and was freezing cold.  Due to the lack of solar power, the overhead lights were strictly rationed from 6-8pm each evening.

Still, it was dry and had all the other mod cons (running water & tables), so I can’t complain - they certainly put the Overland Track huts to shame.  There was also a swimming spot nearby which was very refreshing.  We cooked up our favourite camping meal of the trip - (indian curries with rice). Then we all played bananagrams until it was bedtime. The evenings were always lots of fun.
