Sydney Day 3 - Zali's Birthday

The plan had always been to go to Luna Park for Zali’s birthday and luckily the forecast had mellowed slightly, so it was hot but probably only reached the high 20s with cloud and a bit of occasional drizzle. Last time we were here only Zali could do most of the rides, this time they both could, and so Zali and Jett spent most of the day roaming around with the other kids (Lyra, Tiia, Jamie and Kari). 

Despite it being New Years Day the crowds didn’t really build until after lunch, until then there wasn’t more than one ride’s wait on anything. We rode the roller coaster 3 times and did pretty much whatever ride we wanted without much crowd hinderance.

The new ghost house was particularly fun for the grow-ups as it featured live actors as well as scary props - it was pretty scary, I'm not sure how Jett survived when he went through with the older kids (you have at least 12 to get in). In fact while we were waiting to go in, the queue controller informed a few parents with kids about the 12 year age limit, prompting the kids to gleefully high-five and exit the line as if their lives had suddenly been saved (demonstrating exactly whose idea it was to go in there - certainly not theirs! )

Because entry to Luna Park is free, (you just pay for the rides), we were able to stroll down to a grassy spot in front of Wendy Whitely’s gardens for a picnic lunch. It was really lovely.

Then we headed back to the park for some more rides before leaving. I think we were there from around 10:45 until about 4.30 - pretty good going!
