Interlaken Area Day 1

Today was a much better day for me! After a slow start we left our lovely swiss Airbnb..

and headed to Grindlewald where we took the breathtakingly expensive gondola to the top station where we had great views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau.

From there we followed the busy tourist path on the cliff walk, then 3km over to Lake Bachalpsee which is supposedly a stunning alpine lake (and it was fine I guess, just not amaaaazing).  

From there we did the really fun part which was to leave the busy area and head all the way back to the township, dropping from 2265 metres above sea level down to 1000 metres, in a bit over 10k.  It was actually a pretty gentle descent (compared to what we've done), and the top 1/3 had amazing views - we watched a farmer herd his cows back to their stables to bed, looked at waterfalls and across at the mountains - while the bottom 2/3 was beautiful, almost Nordic forests - it was a delight the whole way.  By the time we made it back to the very busy Grindlewald it was 6.30pm.
