Devonport weekend

Sunday, 26 May 2019

This weekend we've been in Devonport for 2 days of orienteering. The first day was a sprint event around a local college. Then we went to stay at the cabin park by the water which had lots of nice views of the sea. I went for a short walk in the morning to take some photos..

Then we went to the Tasmanian Arboretum which is one of my favourite places to orienteer.  It's normally raining when we go there and the forecast for today was much the same but amazingly we got blue sky and sunshine!

I had my run (making a few mistakes including almost running off the map), then went back out to take some photos.. I got this photo of Jon:

then I stood here for ages waiting for Zali to come towards me (she was doing the same course I had done)..

Then I saw that she'd actually taken the other route choice over there...hmmph

I got a nice photo of Jett just before the finish though:

On the way home we decided to take the Great Lakes road, which used to be at least half an hour longer than the A1.  But now it's sealed the whole way and the A1 has lots of roadworks, so Google declared it to be only 1 minute slower.  Definitely a nice change. We stopped at one lookout - if we hadn't had to prepare for family dinner we would have stopped in a few other places including Liffey Falls.  Another time.
